About "Untold Stories"

The effectiveness of film as a medium for raising awareness, reaching a broad and diverse audience, and directly engaging young people from conception to distribution led the Project AWARE Players to embark on the creation of a second production.

In response to concerns voiced by young people around the state, the Players are taking action. Their second movie will focus on the issue of bullying and harassment in schools at the junior high level.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 1 out of 4 kids in U.S. schools are bullied or harassed and 14 percent of those targeted have a severe reaction to the bullying. Young people can become more than physically ill from bullying – it can also lead to serious thoughts of suicide.

"Untold Stories" will focus on what goes on in middle schools, but more importantly on the effects and impact it has on the kids behind closed doors. These ‘based on a true story’ anecdotes will be evidence of the heartache many young teens must suffer with, and will demonstrate the common paths victims will follow as a means of escape from the reality of their lives.

Filming has been completed, and the movie will premiere at Biddeford City Theater on May 21, 2008 from 7-9 pm. Please contact Project AWARE to find out more.
